About Me
Roya Mohammadsadegh is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at UMass Amherst. Before coming to the United States, she completed her M.S. in Cognitive Science at Tarbiat Modares University in Tehran, Iran, where her research focused on agency and decision-making.
She expanded this work to explore how agency and decision-making processes change through interaction with AI and machines, earning a second M.S. in Psychological and Brain Sciences at UMass Amherst with a thesis on Agency in Human-Artificial Intelligence Collaboration, under the supervision of Dr. Youngbin Kwak.
Her current Ph.D. research investigates the neural underpinnings of these changes in decision-making and agency using EEG. She also collaborates with Dr. Mohammad Atari's team at the CAM-L to examine the role of cultural differences in human interaction with emerging technologies.
Her research aims to deepen our understanding of human-AI interaction, with a particular emphasis on how culture shapes our engagement with technology.
